2021 IRS Tax Forums Kickoff

Its that time of year again. The I.R.S. is hosting its annual Nationwide Tax Forums. For the second consecutive year the entire forum is virtual. I like it MUCH better this way. Taking two classes a day three days a week for five weeks. Although attending 30 classes in four days had some advantages. The even busier me appreciates this format more. The commissioner REALLY wants to get back to in person forums. Hopefully when that resumes (probably 2022), they’ll keep the virtual option open.

Once again there’s a HUGE emphasis on compliance and security. Just as it was last year. SEVENTEEN of the thirty classes are about compliance (including payments), security, enforcement and/or appearing and practicing with the I.R.S. During last year’s keynote the commissioner stated how much he’s into compliance and security. Reading the list of class titles shows that nothing has changed. I’m pretty sure this year’s keynote will have a similar theme.
